The most important habit
We’re all creature of habits. Whether we realize it or not, our habits dictate how we approach our life. Not all habits are created equal. A corner stone habit which sets the pattern of our behaviour is arguably the most important one. That corner stone habit is the foundation that sets our behaviour in our life throughout the day – and in consequence our life.
Perhaps we have that one corner stone habit that serves as strong foundation in our life without knowing it. I, myself only found out about this concept when I read Charles Duhigg’s Power of Habit. Waking up early in the morning is definitely one of the key cornerstone habit that sets the success for the day. Early in the morning, before life pulls you into many different directions, it’s a good practice to jot down ideas and priorities for the day.
What if you’re not an early riser? Or what if you’d like to have more ‘edge’ because you already belong to that ‘5AM Club’. Another great habit would be to start the day from the previous day – just before you end your day.
How to do that?
Simply jot down all your ideas and priorities and the next steps for each of those ideas or priorities. Knowing the next steps would somehow put closures to that long list you that have from that very long day at work or at home. This will cleanse the mind from anxieties from that long day.
This practice will let your subconscious mind organizes your thoughts on how to approach the following day.
